A Soft Place To Land

Cristina Martinez

'A Soft Place To Land'

Populus welcomes back Cristina Martinez, one of its original artists in residence, whose work has been part of the hotel since its doors first opened. She returns a year later having just finished the largest work of her career, a permanent mural on the Occidental Promenade a few steps from the hotel and directly across from the tenth edition of the Seattle Art Fair. A Soft Place to Land is her homecoming, a weekend that gathers the work, the neighborhood, and the people who live with it back in the space where it began.

Artist & Collectors Brunch

On Sunday the weekend comes to full bloom. From 10 AM to 2 PM, Cristina Martinez and Al-Baseer Holly welcome friends old and new to Salt Harvest for the perfect end to art fair weekend, the morning where everyone lingers a little longer. Artists and collectors gather, sounds by JusMoni and Stas Thee Boss filling the restaurant, and the tables carry the best of the season from Salt Harvest, generous and Pacific Northwest to its core, from berries and warm pastries to eggs and fresh Northwest salmon. It is the soft landing the weekend is named for.

RSVP REQUIRED

It’s the foundation of everything we do.

At Populus Seattle, community is not a backdrop

A Soft Place To Land celebrates the makers, artists, entrepreneurs, and tastemakers who shape Seattle’s cultural rhythm. Through their voices, we explore how they experience the city, what inspires their work, and the philosophies that guide their craft. It’s a way to discover Seattle not through a guidebook, but through lived perspective.
