This week’s featured guest is among the busiest piano players in the Pacific Northwest, Eric Verlinde

Seattle-area pianist and composer Eric Verlinde brings a deeply rooted, melodic approach to jazz, drawing on blues, gospel, funk, salsa, swing, bebop, and classical music. Born in Everett and raised in Snohomish, Verlinde began piano at age six and was performing professionally by 14. Since then, he has become a familiar presence in the Northwest jazz community, performing and hosting jam sessions at venues including the Owl and Thistle, Tula’s, and the Scarlet Tree, while collaborating with musicians and vocalists throughout the region. His playing emphasizes melody, rhythm, attentive listening, and the joyful reinvention of musical ideas, and he has written more than 150 original songs, released five recordings, and appeared on more than 20 others.=
